Without a doubt, personal training is a great way to learn the latest tactics in the world of fitness. But it also helps you realize your potential and physical ability. It builds your confidence and self-esteem. And it allows you to gain control over your own body image.

The RiverPlex Recreation and Wellness Center employs personal trainers that have the education and training to help you meet all of your fitness goals. Our team will show you how to participate in a safe and productive exercise program that will give you results. Whether you are looking to add some intensity to your current fitness routine or just getting started in the pursuit of your fitness goals, we can help develop a training program for your specific needs. The RiverPlex team of trainers is here and ready to help you!

Group rate

Your group of 4 or more can work with a personal trainer 2 days per week for 6 weeks. This 12-session group rate is $150/person.

 

Meet our trainers

 Amber Parkinson Amber Parkinson is an AFAA certified Personal Trainer with an education in exercise science and serves as our head trainer. Amber teaches Body Pump, Body Step, and Back to Abs classes and enjoys any class that makes you break a sweat! She loves to work with women and loves to help to make people feel more confident about themselves!
Dena Redhead Dena Redhead has been an ACE Certified Personal Trainer at the RiverPlex since February 2006. Clients who train with her can expect a safe, challenging workout that's both full of variety and fun! She specializes in developing individualized exercise programs to assist women in reaching their weight loss and fitness goals through cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and a nutrional diet. Her main focus is on strength training, emphasizing proper lifting form and technique. Her ability to effectively communicate and motivate clients has enabled her to assist women to achieve a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lifestyle.
No picture Liz Wiertel is currently a student at Bradley University studying to be a Registered Dietician. She loves being healthy, and believes that exercise is the best way to feel great about yourself! Liz loves running, and believes that you must break a sweat to have a good workout! She always challenges her clients, and provides creative new ideas so that each workout is unique. Liz works with all ages and fitness levels to help each client realize the importance of feeling confident and good about themselves.
Peggy Shadid Joseph Peggy Shadid Joseph has been running for years but just completed her Personal Trainer Certification through AFAA. She has completed many road races, marathons, and even those crazy ultra-marathons.   Peggy has been involved in the St. Jude Tri-County Run for many years and she would love to share her love of exercise, fitness, and running with you! Her goal is to help a person be happy with what they are doing and how they feel. She believes you should cross train in multiple areas like running, lifting weights,  and an exercise routine. Peggy says everyone is a runner – some people just move their feet a bit faster. According to Peggy, “We’re all winners, we just cross the finish line at different times”.
Travis Helmig Travis Helmig is an ISSA certified personal trainer with a love for adventure and wellness. He specializes in helping his clients achieve overall wellness by increasing energy, strength, endurance, and self-confidence. Travis has an extensive background in athletics and can help you acheive your sport specific goals.
Amanda Meyers Amanda Meyers has been a fitness instructor for 3 years now and is an AFAA certified personal training and is certified to teach Turbo Kick, PIYO, Zumba and Body Vive. She currently attends school for a degree in physical therapy. She teaches Turbo Kick and Back to Abs classes twice a week.
 James Boland James Boland is an AFAA certified personal trainer and is currently a senior at Bradley University studying Physical Therapy. His emphasis is on variation to stray away from exercise boredom. He likes to bring a lot of energy to his workouts and enjoys giving clients, of all ages and fitness ranges, plenty information on technique, posture, breathing, nutrition and a plethora of other areas of overall wellness.
Kendel Pomatto Kendel Pomatto is an AFAA certified personal trainer with a Bachelors degree in health science from Bradley University. She enjoys training individuals at all fitness levels with a special focus on athletes. Kendel likes to keep exercise fun by incorporating a variety of exercises and making every work out different. She has been working at the Riverplex since June of 2008.
